Saddleworth Runners run an athletics training academy on Thursday nights starting at 6:30pm. at Saddleworth school, Uppermill. Parking is available at the school. We will be meeting at the grass sports fields next to the bridlepath. This is at the rear of the school and best approached from pickhill lane.

We support the fantastic  Saddleworth Village olympics. If you are part of a village team then feel free to join our sessions.We offer training in running, jumping and throwing events and also a taster in  fell running.If you are between 8 and 16 why not train with us over the summer and enjoy getting fitter.

What you can expect from us

The training will be for one hour and will be a involve running, orienteering (map and compass), drills, co-ordination excercises, throwing and junmping skills and games.You should wear or bring training shoes. A light coat (or cagoule) incase it rains and you might wish to bring a drink. There will be 14 sessions and we ask for a one off charge of £5 membership per runner. This will entitle young runners to a T-shirt and helps us provide equipment for the sessions. Also runners will be given a log-book to collect session stamps these can be converted into sailing and climbing experiences at a later date.

Please note there are no Changing or toilet facilities at the training ground so arrive ready.

Our aim is to promote healthy living and sport as part of an outdoor lifestyle. We hope to give the opportunity for children to experience running through games, races and fun. Our Coaches are CRB checked but we need volunteers to help run the sessions which is where parents come in. If you would like to volunteer to help out contact :
